A Sign of Success?

As it has become a habit for me in the past few month; I opened eclipse and synchronized my Impresario code.

The first thing I notice is the dreaded red box with a ‘x’ though it; the sign of a compilation error. But this wasn’t a plug-in any of the developers used, it was one of those dead plug-ins we had made a while back and never really touched, so why is it not compiling now?

Seems like some sneaky developers used this plug-in as a test bed for another project they are working on. Granted when I look at it, it doesn’t seem like they actually used the plug-in to its full extent; regardless, I was tickled to find this “test” code checked in our repository.

So good job guys ;)

Next time add a ResponseXXXX :)

As for the compilation error, its strange, but I have no idea why it was there and how it got itself fixed.

If simplicity attracts users and developers, then I truly hope this was a sign of this simplicity. After listening to a few things that Chad Fowler presented to us at CUSEC 2006, I believe there is a lot of automation that we can learn from Rails.

Just remember, TDGs are as boring as rails, DynamicDTG is a step in the right direction, maybe the next step is to automate the creation of ALL TDGs.

Either you’re on crack or you will become a top SOEN personality within 5 years. But then again, I don’t think that the problem is a hard one. If I can write code that generates update functions for single columns based on primary key and new value arguments, it’s already awesome.
